As part of our commitment to environmental sustainability, our Producer Responsibility Organisation (PRO) is dedicated to promoting waste reduction, recycling, and responsible disposable practices. Here are some tips to inspire positive change and reduce our environmental footprint: 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲: Minimise single-use items by opting for reusable alternatives. Say no to plastic bags, bottles, and straws, and choose products with minimal packaging where possible.𝗥𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘆: Sort your recyclables properly and familiarise yourself with what can and cannot be recycled in your area. Remember to clean and dry items before recycling to ensure they can be processed efficiently.𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗹: Dispose of hazardous materials, electronic waste, and other non-recyclables properly. Check local regulations for designated drop-off locations or collection events.Join our PRO to create a sustainable future through waste management and recycling. As we prepare for the upcoming #CGCSASUMMIT2024 on 09 October 2024, we reflect on some of the invaluable insights shared during our previous year’s event. As we delved into discussions about the informal sector, one key insight emerged: the vital role of Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) play in contributing to the growth of the economy. This emphasises the critical importance of supporting and investing in SMMEs to drive economic growth and create a favourable environment for job creation.Furthermore, our speakers emphasised the need to "multiply and invest in these businesses because they create employment opportunities." There is a pressing need to cultivate an environment conducive to SMME success, encompassing access to finance, skills enhancement, and market access. As we gather once again let us leverage key insights to drive meaningful action and create positive change. Save the date to attend this year’s summit.#CGCSA #SMME #Economic Growth #JobCreation

As we navigate the complexities of consumer markets in South Africa the pressing issue that impacts our economy, and poses significant risk to public health and safety, is that of illicit trade. Illicit trade, particularly in tobacco products continues to thrive, eroding governmental revenue but also the moral fabric of society. Dr. Vellios and Prof. Van Walbeek's recent BMJ Open article reveals that illicit cigarettes accounted for over 58% of total sales in 2022, resulting in billions of rands in lost revenue for the South African Revenue Service (SARS). Read the full article: https://bit.ly/4awD6aQ We’re committed to combating illicit trade, recognising the urgent need for collaborative efforts across government agencies, civil society, and industry partners. Enhanced enforcement, strengthened border controls, and greater public-private sector cooperation are imperative to tackle this rampant challenge. We will be launching the My CGCSA / GS1za App where users can anonymously report illicit trade. If you are unable to use the app, you can use our toll free hotline to again anonymously report illicit trade and counterfeit goods. Dial 0800 014 856. #CGCSA #StopIllicitTrade

While managing these incidents require efforts from policymakers, food safety authorities and food business operators, consumers also play a vital role.Continuous improvement, compliance and adherence to food safety best practice helps us prepare for the unexpected. We applaud the peaceful elections that just took place in South Africa, a testament to our maturing democracy. As no party won outright, we recognise the need for negotiation to form a government. Talks should prioritise national interests, constitutional protection, and stability to address our economic and social challenges. We urge political parties to set aside differences and focus on what’s best for the country. As our members are significant contributors to the economy, we’re committed to supporting national objectives of growth, job creation, and sustainability. We’ve weathered Covid-19, unrest, loadshedding, inflation, and more, always protecting consumers, employees, and supply chains. We look forward to a government that acknowledges our sector’s role, listens, consults, and acts decisively. We face significant challenges requiring bold leadership. We expect collaboration to ensure energy security, support growth, address infrastructure, combat illicit trade, and fight corruption and crime. The CGCSA is ready to engage and collaborate with the government to improve the investment climate and support growth. Together, we can move South Africa forward. 🤝 Our CEO, Zinhle Tyikwe, will be speaking with Gugulethu Mfuphi on Kaya 959 at 19:00 tonight unpacking the election results for the consumer goods sector and the economy in general. You can listen online https://bit.ly/3ptFL3J You can also read the full article: https://bit.ly/4e7TB03 #CGCSA #SouthAfrica #Elections
