In reference to Utah fans and UCF fans being paired with these other more distinguished athletic programs fans as the most hated across the nation.
Texas, Alabama and Auburn Michigan, Florida State, Miami, and Ohio State, these sports programs are clearly on a different historical level than the others
Tennessee and Texas A&M are always formidable, although they have not won as much on the highest stages.
UCF has had a couple of very successful football seasons.
Utah has performed at a level…. in football only …..that would be equivalent to a Tennessee or Texas A&M ….although that has only been over about a 10 year span. Utah as a name ….is not even in the same conversation with Texas A&M or Tennessee in any way shape or form. Utah was a participant in the Rose Bowl.
(BYU is national champion in football has a Heisman has Dave O’Brien awards Sammy Baugh Etc. etc. etc. etc.) sorry, had to throw that in
I can see how big time successful teams are hated. It just comes with the territory.
I always cheered for Jerry Pimm and the running Utes. I cheered for The Majerus teams. Absolutely loved Tom Chambers and Danny Vranes. Keith Vanhorn was a very good basketball player. The point guard that played in the NBA for 15 years was awesome Andre Miller
Majerus very good coach and knew how to get his teams to perform …. Rick did some strange things and we’re finding out more and more about that but when you win, you can live with some of that.
Utah basketball program has been pretty embarrassing for many years. Giacametto and Jim Boiling and the guy that said that not safe, I think his name was ChrisStovisk. These guys were real good for BYU.
Utah State was the Premier basketball program in Utah while stew morril was there.
Roger Reed really had a disaster at BYU. Roger Reed was actually a very good basketball coach. Just the situation with having two of his kids on the team and a lot of other things …..that place got ugly. His kids were actually good basketball players. Roger Reid was set up to dominate when he took over. Defense is very important and Roger Reed teams played defense. I’m really not sure what happened totally. I do know that he made a huge mistake and not playing Ryan Cuff more. I do realize Ryan had some struggles at Arizona State after that, but Ryan Cuff is one of the best basketball player that ever came out of the state of Utah. Roger Reed went on to have great success at Snow College and SUU.
Steve Cleveland resurrected BYU basketball. Dave Rose carried it on and did a fabulous job. If it was not for Dave Rose, Utah state would’ve probably been even more dominant than they were.
I’m a third generation BYU fan. I have always been respectful and proud of any team from the state of Utah that has success. Basketball was terrible terrible after Roger Reed had problems there Utah Basketball is really suffering in hemorrhaging at this particular time. Kyle Wittingham is a very good coach, I wish he coached BYU. I wish he had been BYU Coach for the last 15 years.
Utah is a very good regional football program. They are not a national football powerhouse they participated in the Rose Bowl twice
Utah‘s biggest moments were the sugar bowl year and the Fiesta bowl (Alex Smith). Even though Alabama wished they were somewhere else. I’m proud of the way Utah went out and thumped on the big boys, I actually went hoarse in our living room cheering for the Utes.
Utah as a program in basketball and football is pretty much unknown outside of the state of Utah and may be a little bit in the Pac 12. Football coaches respect Kyle Whittingham as a coach and what he has put together.
From a national standpoint Utah has about zero interest anywhere outside of the state of Utah
It blows my mind away that Utah fans are listed on this list. Somebody’s made a pretty big impression somewhere….ouch
I went to the game where Max Hall threw five interceptions and I sat on the second row. The fans down there were pretty respectful and considerate some of the fans up in the bathroom should’ve probably been locked up in jail.
I don’t like the way that some of the Utah fans act. I hope that BYU fans do not act that way, but I’m sure some of them do. I work with a lot of very good people that are Utah fans and, Utah is a wonderful school and there are great people that come from there.
Utah is not as big of a deal as they think they are…. just calling it like it is.
BYU basketball is in the best place that it has ever been in. I know that Danny and Fred, Robert and Greg kite went to the elite eight. I know that Jimmer Fredette went to the 16 and with Brandon Davies would’ve went to the elite eight or maybe even final four …..they darn near went to the elite eight without Davies. BYU basketball historically is no slouch. They’ve always been a decent second tier mid tier basketball program pretty much. BYU should be taken very seriously because of their basketball program right now. If you are not taking BYU basketball seriously you’re making a huge mistake. I’m not telling you that we are going to the sweet 16 next year although it is possible I’m not telling you that we’re making multiple runs to the final four. I am telling you that BYU basketball is the real deal and you better watch out because this is going to be FUN.
I think That Illinois and North Carolina state and Florida State and Kentucky and others are taking BYU basketball very seriously right now. And they should be. I left duch*enne off the list for good reason
BYU basketball right now is a top 15 top 20 program. BYU is in the best place that it has ever been in. No questions asked.
BYU football since Lavell Edwards took over has been legitimately good. They are not great. They are struggling a little bit right now hopefully that can be fixed

Utah basketball is not good.
BYU Football has had a year or two where they were not good.
BYU is a worldwide entity and has a worldwide following. Nothing like the top 10 or 15 programs in the nation. But absolutely in the top 25 to 45 brands across all schools.
As a resident of the state of Utah, I am proud of how the Utah football team has done but nobody outside of Utah even cares about Utah Utes.
Football coaches in the Pac 12 the previous Pac 12 I should say, and from around the nation, have a great deal of respect for Kyle Whittingham and the Utah football program.
BYU has the potential to become a top 35 football program realistically right now they are not. And if they make it to there why not jump up another spot or two and break into the top 25-20 range potentially.

Honestly, I don’t have a problem with Utah as a School or with their athletic program or programs. My only problem is with the Utah fans…..just kidding
BYU is a big deal when it comes to college athletics and following national interest. Etc. etc. TV ratings, professional, television and radio, broadcasting and sports programs style and class
Utah has one heck of a regional program and they have really over performed in football over the last 10+ years under Kyle Whittingham……we have to give some credit to the guy that was there before him, even though I think Kyle‘s a better guy…… Without urban Meyer, Kyle would not have been quite at the level he’s at.
Kyle‘s problem is it appears he’s not grateful for those who paved the way for him or for those who taught him or grateful for where he came from. But I will be honest. Kyle is better than any BYU football coach in the last……I don’t know how long.
He should have more respect for BYU and for Lavelle Edwards
We are still very proud of Kyle and acknowledge his dedication hardwork and legitimate success.
